It’s finally happening – the podcast is here!

Oh my goodness — hello and welcome! I am literally sitting here in my dining room, pinching myself because I still can’t believe that this is actually happening. And even though I’m sitting here by myself, I like to think that you and I are just chatting over lattes or maybe a tall glass of wine, depending on what time of day you’re listening to this. So I’m going to be honest with you. This podcast went from dream to fruition in less than six weeks, six weeks. Okay. So now that you know, that I feel like I can openly talk about how incredibly nervous I was to actually announce that I was going to be creating this podcast and to actually sit down and record this first episode. Like maybe you can relate to this feeling that I have right now where I, like I mentioned, I’m sitting in my dining room and I feel like it’s a thousand degrees because my body temp is super high and my heart is racing

Sometimes you just have to show up even amidst the uncertainty and questions…

And I haven’t really given myself a whole lot of time to think about taking this next step before actually sitting down to hit record, but I still decided to show up anyway. And so now that I’ve just gotten that out into the open, here’s the thing, despite how nervous I may have felt in deciding to create this. I knew that deep down that this was what I was being called to pursue and not in like some super deep way. I didn’t like know, you know, for months or years that I was going to create a pod pack podcast. And honestly, if you had asked me two months ago, if I would ever create a podcast, I probably would have laughed at that question, but I knew that I wanted to connect and engage and just really help other women through life. And so I kind of just woke up one day and realized what better way to do that than through this intimate podcast. And maybe that’s you, maybe you are working through some really amazing things. Maybe you have some big steps that you want to take in your life. Maybe you are kind of in the middle of taking those steps. And you’re just trying to figure it out as you go. And the idea of me being able to grow with you through this time, just lights me up so much. Like how could I not be so excited about that?!

So in these next upcoming episodes, we’re going to deep dive and have really honest and open conversations about growing through life together and learning how to turn challenges into opportunities. We’re going to explore what it means to truly love and accept ourselves for who we are right now in our lives. We’re going to learn how to take that self acceptance and that inner self confidence, and really build it into massive self-confidence so that we can go on and we can make those really big moves in our lives or continue taking those really big steps in our lives. And maybe that’s a business that you’ve been wanting to create, or maybe that’s, you know, a career jump that you’ve been wanting to do, or maybe that’s the promotion at work that you’ve been wanting to ask for, but you’ve just been too afraid to do so.

In this podcast, we are going to learn how to love ourselves for who we are right now.

We’re going to tune into seeing how much potential we have for our future. And, Oh my gosh, you guys, if you can’t tell right now, I am so pumped about all of this. Like I’m getting those same, those feelings I was talking about earlier where my heart is racing and my palms are a little sweaty. Like this just lights me up. And I’m so excited that we get to do this together. So you and I are going to go on this journey together and we’re going to learn how to become the best version of ourselves. And not just for anyone else’s sake. I mentioned that I wanted to create this podcast because I was so excited about helping others, which is wonderful. And in life, it’s so great to create those goals where we know that we are going to impact and benefit other people.

But at the end of the day, this is all about living a life that you feel truly proud of. And just to be clear, I am not an expert in any of these topics. Like I am not a life coach. I am not a therapist. Like I haven’t been trained in any of those like areas of expertise, but I am learning all of this with you. I am dedicating myself to researching and learning and reading books and looking inside myself and finding that inner wisdom that I’ve had all along. That I’ve just been too busy or like too in my own head and ignoring, but I am dedicated to learning all of this with you. And we’re going to navigate the curve balls of life, the mishaps, the mistakes, the miscommunications, the unmet expectations, the uncomfortable, but sometimes really necessary parts of growth. We’re going to be talking about all of that.

Meet your host – me, Krista Marie!

So little bit about me for those of you that may not know me in person, I am a wedding and a branding photographer, and I live in California. I actually started my business at the age of 22, still in college, obviously. Yeah. I had no idea what I was doing when I started it. I, for my 21st birthday, decided to buy myself a DSLR camera. And I started second shooting for a roommate of mine in college for weddings. And I started seeing her growth in her business and booking more clients and, you know, creating her own hours and her own schedule and living a life that she truly loved. And I saw that and I, and I knew deep down, I want that. I would love to be my own boss and to create my own business and like run my own life essentially. But I was in school.

I was doing all of the things that I was told to do that I thought you needed to do in order to be successful in life. I was pursuing an accounting degree, which I ended up changing to human resources because I very quickly realized that accounting was just not any sort of a creative field that I could see myself in, but I was going through the motions. And maybe you can relate with this. Maybe you also went to school because that was the thing that you felt you needed to do. You went to college and you got the degree and you checked off all of those life boxes. And then at the end of it, you kind of thought, wow, is this really it? After college, I worked full time in my corporate job for eight years while also growing my photography business full time, I struggled so much with self doubt.

I constantly felt this sense of imposter syndrome, even though I was consistently booking clients, you know, I was getting referrals. I was making money. I was shooting weddings that I loved. I was getting referrals from previous clients that just raved about me and all of these things that at one point in my earlier career, I had only dreamed of getting to that point. And it’s just so interesting because even after eight years, I still wasn’t sure if I hit officially quote unquote made it, even though I was making money. And I felt like I was successful in my business, I still wasn’t sure if I was ready to take that leap and go full time. My corporate job had been safety net. I had loved knowing that I had a fallback. I had a plan B again, I knew deep down that I craved something more.

This podcast is for you if you’re ready to start playing bigger in your life

And so fast forward to now creating this podcast, I wanted to create a space, not just for creative women who want to start their own business or become an entrepreneur or be their own boss. I also just wanted to create this for you, playing bigger in your life, whatever that might look like, maybe it’s in your career. Maybe you want to play bigger in your and be more vulnerable. Maybe you want to take a deep dive into your personal growth journey and your personal development. Maybe you want to ask for that raise at work that you have been craving, but have been too afraid to ask whatever your goal, whatever your journey is. This podcast is created to help you find the inner confidence and the self acceptance and the self love to be able to feel empowered, to take those big next steps. And these episodes are going to be short and sweet.

And to the point, I don’t know if you can relate to this, but my go to podcasts are the ones that I can listen to while I’m in the shower or I’m on the way to the grocery store, or maybe I’m in the grocery store. My goal is to make sure that you not only feel motivated and inspired after each episode, but also that you feel that you have actionable tips that you can implement throughout the rest of your day in order to get you closer to those goals. And we’re going to keep it real here. So I am not going to fluff things up. I’m not going to pretend to have it all together. I already told you that I do not have any areas of expertise in any of this, but I am learning as I go. And there’s honestly so much beauty in that we are going to have so many open and honest conversations around topics that truly matter.

Like I literally picture us right now sitting at my favorite coffee shop with cute planters on the wall, beautiful wooden accents everywhere. And we’re just like chatting over our favorite lattes with homemade whipped cream and cinnamon sprinkled on top. And I don’t know, maybe that’s way too specific in your life, Chris, I don’t even drink dairy and I don’t even like sentiment, but I think you get my point truly. I am so freaking excited. I’m so excited that we get to grow through life together. I’m so excited that we get to learn to dream Baker and learn how to take actionable steps towards our goals. Even if it feels a little bit scary, maybe even, especially if it feels a little bit scary because chances are, if it feels scary, it means that you’re invested in that next step. It means that that thing on your heart, whatever it might be means so much to you and girl, these are the things that we are going to work towards. So I cannot wait to get to know you better. I can’t wait to share more of my heart with you. And I just hope that, you know, until the next episode that I am so proud of you and I am so glad that you are here.
